How To Choose The Right Steering System for Your Boat?

So far, most of Yamaha customers in Vietnam do not understand the benefit of the Y'S Gear hydraulic steering system. Most of them in Vietnam only choose the mechanical steering system for their engines, even the engines are 100 hp and above. As the result, they are having problems steering their boats at high speed.

To help customers to understand the importance of the right steering system, Minh Long has been advising customers how to choose the right system whenever customers have purchased engines.

Mechanical Steering System Hydraulic Steering System
Heavy to steer, difficult to control. Light to steer, easy to control due to hydraulic compression.
Swerving quickly. Swerving slowly.
Needed to maintain frequently. Cable always operates well by changing the hydraulic fluid regularly.
The cable is limited by the length of the boat. The cable is not limited by the length of the boat.
Suitable for small HP single engines (100HP and below). Suitable for big HP single and twin engines (115HP and above).
Difficult to controll at high speed. Perfect for a high speed boat.
Cheaper. More expensive.
